Fair Trade Connections

FairtradeCanada is the national organization responsible for educating, promoting, and strengthening the fair trade movement across the country. It is part of the global Fairtrade system, which ensures that producers in the Global South receive fair prices, decent working conditions, and sustainable livelihoods, in addition to a social premium for products like coffee, tea, sugar, cocoa, bananas and cotton.

Fairtrade Canada is a member of Fairtrade International, which has established an alternative trading system that works to share the benefits of trade more equally, through standards, certification, producer support, programs and advocacy. By promoting fair trade, this system prioritizes people and the planet over profit, building more equitable supply chains and empowering farmers and workers to take full control of their futures.

Fairtrade International facilitates transparency, cooperation, community development, and environmental stewardship. Their initiatives extend beyond certification, fostering partnerships that encourage education between Canadians which lead them to make ethical consumption part of everyday life.

Green Campus Cooperative shares this mission by sourcing and producing Organic Fairtrade-certified cotton apparel, supporting the same global movement that Fairtrade Canada represents. Both Fairtrade Canada and Green Campus Cooperative are committed to creating a more just and sustainable future.
